As the highest ranking official in a county in Kenya, the County Governor has a wide range of responsibilities and functions.

1. Set Vision and Mission of the County

2. Managing and Monitoring County’s Development plans

The Governor is also responsible for managing and maintaining the county’s physical infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, and for monitoring and overseeing the implementation of the county’s development plans.

3. Acts as Representative to National Government

The County Governor also serves as the county’s spokesperson and advocate in national and international forums. The Governor is responsible for representing the county’s interests in meetings with national and international actors, as well as in negotiations and discussions with other counties and with the central government.

4. Set up County’s Tax Policies

The County Governor also plays a critical role in setting the county’s tax policies and enforcing the county’s laws.

The Governor is responsible for ensuring that the county’s laws and regulations are followed, and that any revenue generated from taxes or fines is used to benefit the county and its citizens.

The Governor also works with the county’s Judicial Service Commission to ensure that the county’s legal system is fair and efficient.

5. Ensure County’s Public service are high quality

The County Governor also has a duty to ensure that the county’s public services are of a high standard, and that they are accessible to all citizens.

The Governor is responsible for ensuring that county health, education and welfare services are adequately provided, and that they are available to all citizens. To this end, the Governor works with other county officials to ensure that the county’s public services are of a high quality and are accessible to all citizens.

6. Promoting County’s Economic Development

Finally, the County Governor is responsible for promoting the county’s economic development and creating employment opportunities for its citizens.

The Governor works with county authorities, the private sector and other stakeholders to attract investors, create new businesses and foster economic growth.

The County Governor also works to ensure that the county’s resources are used effectively, and that the county’s citizens have access to the best available resources and services.
